2005-2010 was adopted in March 2005 by the Board of Directors of Eagle
Historical Society & Museums. |

EHSM Priorities for 2005-2010 |
VISION: By 2010, the Eagle
Historical Society and Museums, working with its partners, will be a
recognized educational resource that provides opportunities for all
people to understand, appreciate and participate in preserving and
interpreting the history of Eagle City, Alaska and the surrounding area.

Goal 1:
Involve membership and visitors in education.
|
Priority Objectives:
● Offer semi-annual "Open House" or more often if needed.
● Continue to hold monthly meetings. ● Offer public presentations on relevant historic
subjects. ● Continue publication of newsletter. ● Continue daily tours.
● Offer training to all tour guides.

Goal 2:
Strengthen internal and external partnerships.
|
Priority Objectives:
●
Address themes in products and services at retail outlet and
online sales. ● Support and interact with historic
and educational organizations and encourage
specialists to share their research and knowledge with the
membership through
appropriate techniques. ● Involve educators in
refining themes for outreach services.

Goal 3:
Provide a continuum of quality experience for lifelong learning
relevant
to diverse audiences.
|
Priority Objectives:

Provide a curriculum-based presentation in local school
district's in-service
training to inform teachers of museum resources. ●
Make curriculum-based materials fully available on the
internet.
|
Goal 4:
Increase public awareness and visibility of EHSM, its programs and
issues.
|
Priority Objectives:
●
Use special-emphasis days/weeks/months to communicate
messages
about EHSM programs, issues, partnerships, and volunteer
opportunities
(specifically: Public Lands Day, National History Day). ●
Provide training and interpretive materials and media to
tour operators who
regularly bring visitors to improve accuracy and relevance of
their
interpretation of the area and museum.
● Develop a program for welcoming new residents and
families to increase
volunteerism and interest.
